calamities
Recently, a landslide buried an entire village in Philippines. 1000-2000 are feared still unaccounted for and only 83 have been found alive so far. The numbers might have changed though.
A mine blast in Mexico have trapped numerous miners underground last sunday. Rescue efforts are still ongoing.
It makes me wonder. Has Singapore undergone such calamities before? What are we made up of? Do we have to be so sheltered? Why do we need so much control around here?
Examples -
Concerts - Ushers putting people back to their seats.. " Ohh, you guys cannot stand and sing ah, wait barrier break, stampede how?"
MRTs - "Ohhh, should we put up barriers at the mrt stations? There're an increasing number of people getting run over by mrts"
MRTs - "Eh, you all keep left while going up the escalator. The right side is for people who are rushing."
Barriers at overhead bridge - "To prevent people from riding their bicycles while crossing the O/H bridge, we have decided to put up barriers at the start and end of the bridge."
(Dumbos, putting up barriers will stop people from cycling over the bridge? There's still some space to cycle through the barrier mah. How many people have you heard cycling over the bridge and falling off to the road in the process of doing so? None right? Then because of these barriers, some guy's spine got injured.)
Actually, we're such repressed people around here.
Come on! Express your views! we welcome free speech! But cannot anyhow express, must go to the speakers corner and stand on the podium then can express.
