Hey!! How's everyone out there?

Working REALLY is different from schooling life. Is definitely a phase where we break out from our comfort zones and venture into the unknown and challenge ourselves.

Been 3 months since I have updated my blog, and within this period of time, though considered 'short' in our lifespan has altered my life a great deal. Lots of significant events have occurred, some sweet, some good, some challenging.. I'll take it all. =) But definitely more sweet than anything else. heehee.

Ok, I got to go zzzz, looking forward to going back to school on the 13th.. And here's wishing all my friends a successful career ahead!

Beckoning of a new period

I believe that as we grow older, our prorities change and certain things that seemed to matter in the past are trivial in the present.

Schooling days seem a long time ago for me. For you guys, I'm not sure if the feeling is consensual. But I tend to look towards the future rather then dwell in the past.

As seen by the dates of the respective entries, I HAVE NOT been making regular updates. Haha. >.<'' Well, I guess I have been rather busy but I promise I will update when I have the time. =)

Work has been ok for me so far, hope that it will be smooth sailing.

Oh ya, I forgot. Results were out last thursday. I achieved a 2nd upper. Well well, if only I have known I would miss my 1st.,.... I would have slept through yr 3 lah. Haha!

I reckoned tons of people must be feeling unfair about their classification of degree. Why dosent my effort translate into a better 'class', as opposed to someone else who dosent deserve the same class as I have!! One word to describe this lor.

What to do right? Life is such. We just have to look forward and try not to dwell too much in the past.

4 days of torture

As you guys have all known, I have started working in my new workplace since tuesday - 29/8/06. Which makes it a grand total of 4 working days.

Man... This job is tough. Very demanding.

I am trying to pick things up fast and not to be burden to my buddy. But at the same time, I have to still consult her on certain issues as any wrong decision made would result in a lost of revenue.

Shit... StrEeEeeeEessSsSs.....

But is okay, I would strive on and pick things up as fast as I can.

Every job has its downside, and difficulties . You just have to overcome them! :)

On another note. No matter how tough life gets, please DO NOT do anything stupid like this ->

Incidently, the above-deceased is my younger sister's ex poly classmate. This incident happened yesterday only.

Sometimes they joke about bananas,

sometimes they joke about holes,

sometimes they joke about milk,

sometimes they joke about one another.

Other times they complain about one another,

a few times people think and suspect too much(esp true for girls),

at times we get to know others weaknesses.

Have been working there for about 2 weeks, and I can say that I have integrated well with the 'family'. My mentor's terrific! She teaches me patiently and is not bad tempered at all. I could have asked her 50 questions per day, and the most she would give me is a 'qian bian' face in a funny way. haha.

Overall, the atmosphere in the office is fantastic... well at least for me.

My friend streaked his hair today. Whoooo changing image ahhh boy?
Haha, he got suaned that he celebrated national day by streaking his hair which look uncannily like a golden firework exploding right from the core of his head. You should really see it.... to believe it... Whoooo BOOOM BOOOOOMMMMM!!!

Anyway I'll like to complain something about the staffs there. Why do they keep eating in the office!!! It was like...

After gym, I passed my friend some MM stuff.

On my way home, I saw Tanya. She graduated last year and ya. I caught up with her under my block. And asked her how's life going for her. Havent seen her for so long. For about a year le I guess... We chatted and soon... We parted ways.

While walking towards the lift..

Suddenly...

I noticed 2 girls from the corner of my eyes. Also walking towards the lift. They seemed quite agitated and animated and suspicious at the same time. Nevertheless I continued towards the lift. There was already a chinese boy inside. I rushed in..

Watched the entired match this morning. It was a great final. Definitely not boring at all!

Red card - checked. Zizou ending his career in a dissapointing way

Penalty kick - Checked. Zizou chipping in early in the match

Tears - Checked. Trezeguat, Thuram and a couple of french players were caught crying

Goal from open play- Checked. Metarrazi heading in a powerful header via an assist from Pirlo

Intense pressure - Checked. Via penaly kicks to decide who will take the world cup

In the end ITALY TRIUMPH!! Yupppieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I think their teamwork and camaderie served them really really well. Much better than teams who rely too much on individual stars.. Pity for Argentina though. Nevertheless - ---

Watched the 2nd half this morning. As expected it was 0-0 but until the 118 and 120th minute Italy scored twice.!!! Whoooo.

I got a feeling that germany were playing for penalties la. As they had only lost once in the world cup competition only. And that was in 1976.

Overall, I felt that Italy were definitely a teeny weee bit stronger as they had 2 or 3 shots hitting the post. And Pirlo and Gattuso were brilliant in controlling the midfield.

I'm not saying that Germany is not good. Just that there had to be a winner and also a loser. Tough luck I guess.

Went to watch this show - Almost love, last friday. I forgot to blog about it. Haha.

Eh, I'm lazy to type the whole review of the movie out here.
Just that it's a korean show.

Sorta a love triangle between 2 guys and girls. And that 'love' is often a fuzzy and blur line. What's love anyway.. sheesh.

Anyway its a good movie lah. Very touching and emotional.

This year's corporate finance paper was not following the trend set by past year papers. Most of the questions that I have spotted did not come out. Among the few are : -

1) Black scholes & MM theory combined
2) Cap structure ( Boom and crisis )

For those that are regarded as the standard questions such as :

Question 1 : CAPM
Question 2 : Binomial Pricing

Upon pondering for 20 mins on my choice of questions, I struck them both off. As I was not very sure of part 2 of question 1 and also question 2 MIGHT seem 'Doable', but after working in pencil to get the general feel of the question. I found that I was better off doing FST, question 4 even though I had not really studied for it.

Also Question 3 - Beta. The Sign for beta came out as a 'box'. Hence decided to do the question because of potential sympathy marks and benefits that would be given to us because of the wrong symbol. haha.

For section B
I did the questions 6, 8. Those were pretty standard questions. Sort of a memory dump. Time is a more important factor here then the fact of being able to do it.
However 5-7 marks from these questions asked about our understanding of the topics, dividend policy and capital structure, and I guess these marks were intended to seperate the better students from the normal ones.

Mergers and EMH was also out of the question for me as I had not even touch those topics.

Overall, I feel the paper was okay with my choice of questions....

Just had my esap paper the tuesday just passed. The paper was easy.
But time management was really an issue, not only with me but with alot of other people as well.

Here's a short format of the paper :
Section A - 8 out of 12.(5 marks ea)
Choose 2 essay questions from Sections B, C, D. and both must not be from the same section.

Lets see. How shall I chart my progress during the paper.

Section A : 1st qns - 4th qns(Wah sibeh shiok, write neatly and long... oopss maybe a bit too long) ----->

5th(moderated the length a bit) ---->

6th - 8th(rather briefly, as I did not study in depth for these few)----->

*by this time it was about 1 hrs 25 minutes into the paper. Thinking that I had plenty of time left. I dillied and dallied and pop a sweet into my mouth.------>

1st essay qns(Attribution) (It was about 2 hrs 30 minutes before I finally decided to cut short my essay and end it there and THEN!
(Oh ya, I was freaking shivering about 2 hrs into the paper, which reduced my ability to write smoothly and fast, on top of being on the verge of a break down with only 25 minutes to finish my 30MARKS ESSAY!!! ---->

A month to go to exams

Sometimes, I wonder how time really flies.

School's ending, some friendships will come to an end, everyone will soon be busy with their own lifes, regrets will come, things that you did not manage to do in your 3 years in school.

Everyones really been hardworking now. School's mostly packed on weekdays. Is this because we are in year 3 now? haha. Working life is imminent.

Read the article on this RGS girl who was diagnosed with tongue cancer on last sunday's paper. Really very touching story. Life's really really fragile. Sometimes you dont know what will hit you or those around you suddenly. Hope that everything will work out for her.

Election day would be on the 6th May. Shortly before that on the 1st may we would have received our Growth ...whatever package. Cant remember the name now. Really a great tactic to pull votes.

Dr Chee is facing legal action from both MM Lee and PM Lee. Apologies are required to be posted on the Straits Times on tomorrows newspaper for the alleged 'culprits'. Will be really interesting to see how things unfold. However the term 'bankrupt' seems largely to be deem negative in Singapore. Still a long way to encourage entrepreneurship I guess. Shucks..

Hey! I just realised that I havent told you guys anything about Singapore Gaga which I caught with my elder sister. Grrrr, I hate giving reviews about films. I shall make it short.

Ok here goes.

Is a 1 hour show. Basically about the sounds of singapore. Well thats what struck me. Is good and sad at the same time.

Went to catch this Danish film called Murk too yesterday. With who else, but my sisters and her friends. Is a 2 hr long film, plot is as expected.. But is not a boring show, exploring issues such as suicide ... etc etc. My mind's a blank now. Please forgive me. =)

Went to school to study as per usual yesterday. My friend told me about this problem he was having with this girl. Aiyah, the usual mind games here. But I listen intently though, being the kaypo I am.

Incident 1 :
Friend with girl at KTV singing. Apparently, is sorta date. And thats it, no plans were made after the session on my friend's side. Throughout the singing, she was smsing on her phone. My friend, although didnt like the idea, did not ask her who it was. After singing, as soon as they headed out of the complex. Girl 'conveniently' sees her group of guy friends outside. She rushes over and 'casually' introduces my friend to 1 of the guys. And yakked with them.

My friend feeling quite left out after they had yakked for quite some time, decided to go some distance away to take a sit. After sometime, they suggested heading down to MOS. The girl, only out of courtesy ask my friend whether he wanted to join them, BUT only after she mentioned how my friend would not like to tag along with them. ( DUHHH??) My friend, who of course played into the socially accepted role in the context of the situation which is the role of a 'cuckoo' said 'no' to the invitation of course.

Upon proceeding to the carpark, girl sms him and ask whether he's angry. (She's a dumb bitch i guess) Of course my friend playing the role of a good guy now replies. "No, I am not angry. and enjoy yourself."

My view of this matter.
The girl's a bitch, she wants the best of both world, the 'stability' of affection or 'being loved' from my friend, and the excitement of flirting with other guys. My friend's putting in too much emotions into something thats not worth it, READ : Paying for all their dates... She dosent respect him, smsing while she's with him alone, just like having another person with them. Lies to him..

I would advise him to drop her like a hot brick. Alas, love/lust/desire blinds ones perception and sensibility. I hope he can protect himself a bit more.. Sighz..

Havent been blogging for the past week. Guess been too busy with studying for my exams and going for lessons. My dad will be having a pacemaker place inside him today. Hope everything will go smoothly.

Apparently, my family history, especially my Dad's side has a history of high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke.. Ya you get the idea. So... what will take me in the future..? haha.

Was studying in school yesterday when a grp of friends came way too close to me and started talking about relationship stuffs and clarifying things. Some lines which I overheard.

Just now. My girl-friend messaged me and told me she has broken up with her boyfriend.

I asked her what happened man?

And she told me that she 'tested' him and well, he failed the 'test'.

Apparently the test involves 'her' using another account under another girl's name to flirt with him through msn.

Everyday I go to school, I see students smoking outside the school compounds. Apparently, the Smoke-free school message is not working lor. I strongly urge the management to legalise smoking in the school compounds again please. Better for student to smoke behind the school walls rather then smoking in front of the main road and letting everyone see. Oh, the irony of it.

Mocks approaching liao hor... Hmmms I guess lotsa people will be feeling stressed out. And this will also be the period of reckoning, where people will decide to give up going for the mocks after coming to a conclusion that they have not study enough or just heck it and go for the fun of it. Haha. As for me, I think I'm not going for ICP and MM. I'm trying quite hard to study for ESAP. Currently already used up half of my mana liao. Dying soon. CF should be quite okay I HOPE.... >.<'''. Recently, a landslide buried an entire village in Philippines. 1000-2000 are feared still unaccounted for and only 83 have been found alive so far. The numbers might have changed though.

A mine blast in Mexico have trapped numerous miners underground last sunday. Rescue efforts are still ongoing.

It makes me wonder. Has Singapore undergone such calamities before? What are we made up of? Do we have to be so sheltered? Why do we need so much control around here?

Concerts - Ushers putting people back to their seats.. " Ohh, you guys cannot stand and sing ah, wait barrier break, stampede how?"

MRTs - "Ohhh, should we put up barriers at the mrt stations? There're an increasing number of people getting run over by mrts"

(Dumbos, putting up barriers will stop people from cycling over the bridge? There's still some space to cycle through the barrier mah. How many people have you heard cycling over the bridge and falling off to the road in the process of doing so? None right? Then because of these barriers, some guy's spine got injured.)

Went over to chai chee for soccer in the morning. Wa lao eh, the sun was HOT!!!! Anyway, saw some policemen doing their prowling or 'strolling' about in the neighbourhood, probably due to the murder case recently.

School's coming to a close and revision classes will be starting soon. In my view, revision classes are really just a waste of time. Summarising the whole year's syllabus into like 2 lectures? Come on. Study by myself even better like that.
Mocks will also be approaching soon. Eh, please try to go for the paper alright? Since you have studied so much already. Things do not have to be 'clear' and perfect everytime. You know who you are. ;)

My friends around me have been studying quite alot, which inevitably has an adverse effect on my psycological well-being. I'm starting to get cranky and paranoid lately.. SIM way - No projects leh. Maybe for IS got. But I think also playtime one.. Essays are never packaged.... only scribbled and anyhow anyhow hand-in. Even if fail also nvm, cos not counted leehhh. Lecturers would even be lucky if students decide to do their work.... Wait.... some people dont even turn up for classes..

Finally I've finished the books - ''The portrait of Dorian Gray'' and "Spuntik Sweetheart". The first book's one of the best I have read, very thought provoking and at the same time not that difficult as well. Besides reading, I've been helping my mom with the housework in the house till the maid comes that is. Once she arrives, I'll return to my 'shao ye' lifestyle. This lifestlye encompasses -

1 . not sweeping, mopping the floor
2. not washing my plates after eating
3. can change my bathing towels more frequently
4. returning home late more often

As for my studies, I've been quite consistent, even though I can definitely put in more effort. The one subject that I have decided to spend my least effort will be ICP, sorry Nageb, but one cant be in conflict with the system of deviding the classes of our degree.. etc etc.

Hmmms, I should say, up to this point in time. When I look back at my yr 2 days, comparatively I've fared better. (Studies, not other aspects)

I've to go for now. I would have posted pictures if not for the faulty CPU in my room. Dammit.
